About me

My name is Alex and I’m an English songwriter currently living in Ireland and working as a sound engineer. I have just released my first full length album ‘Wrapped Around Your Heart‘. The album title is from the first single released ‘Shoot You in You Cage‘. This song sets the tone and theme for the album. Ultimately the album is about two people (not always the same two people) wrapped around each other. Whether this is good or bad thing the impression made, will last forever.

I write, record, mix and produce in my small studio I built in the attic. It is barely enough to stand up in, but is a great place to go and escape and record. Pictures in the gallery. Most of my writing is done downstairs where my guitar has to contend with the attention of my dog Luna-tic. I tend to noodle around until an idea comes and then I go from there. Sometimes songs take days (I have one still waiting from 10 years ago) and sometimes 5 minutes to write.

I have over ten songs I am working on right now so am hoping to get back to recording soon.

Inspiration.

The musicians I am constantly inspired by the most as well as many others are John Frusciante and Chris Cornell. Both incredible songwriters in their own unique ways. Growing up I studied Frusciante’s extensive guitar work, from Niandra Lades to Curtains and any rare recordings I found. Frusciante puts everything into his playing even if that’s just playing one note. His story is also one for inspiration!Chris Cornell is not only a once in a lifetime singer but a unique songwriter. I listen to Cornell in awe of how someone can be so talented. He also seemed humble with the talent he had. A huge loss but his songs are a constant source of inspiration.
